This course will discuss the world of “sync” which refers to a music synchronization license granted by the copyright holder of a composition which in turn allows the licensee to synchronize or “sync” the composition/music with visual media outputs such as films, tv shows, advertisements, etc. This course will explore everything you need to know about getting your music placed for sync including addressing the difference between regularly producing a record and producing specifically for sync. Through live and interactive online discussion, Hayley will lend her valuable experience on this subject. A series of 4 x 90 min sessions of personalized instruction, valuable tools and work processes to move you to your next in understanding the world of sync and music placement. Hayley McLean is a Vancouver born Producer/Writer/Artist whose talent has led her to the world of sync production. Hayley was signed by internationally successful Kobalt Music as a producer/writer in 2018. It is through Kobalt that Hayley garnered the attention of The Stable’s (an L.A. based publisher) founder Kasey Truman. She has gotten placements with TV networks like NBC and the CW on popular shows like Grey’s Anatomy and Batwoman. As an artist, Hayley’s last project “Texada’ is up to 6 million-plus streams. When asked about what makes sync different from commercially artist driven production and writing, Hayley says “Sync opens up so many different facets of creativity. It’s also more accessible than people realize. I’m going to share a few points that can really amp up anybody’s game”. "Hayley is truly a rare and unusual talent who is busting through the glass ceiling. A song Hayley co-wrote, sang and produced was a featured song on Grey’s Anatomy this year. Hayley is the consummate triple threat." ~ Cris Lacy, EVP A&R (Warner Records)
